Satellite Tracking System

Dean Brice (G0UIL) of the NLO Radio Group, has recently completed the design of his satellite tracking system (shown below). All non-stock parts were manufactured by Dean using his own CADCAM system. Control of azimuth and elevation is via a Bluetooth interface, and the only electrical connections to the assembly are a 12V power supply and the antenna feeds. The associated control software can be run from a laptop computer and allows automatic tracking of orbiting amateur satellites and low orbit weather satellites.

Dean has demonstrated the system at recent radio rallies and the South West Astronomy Fair (at the NLO) the Radio Group will be using the system at open days to demonstrate amateur radio satellite communication.
