BILL GREGORY G3AQM ...Silent Key  15 / 6 / 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bill Gregory G3AQM

Bill joined the NLO Radio Group on his retirement to Sidmouth and was soon appointed

as Chairman, Bill lead the group throughout the 1990s and and into the new century

during this period the NLO was under a fast period of expansion and Bills knowledge and

guidance was a great factor in the success of the society.

Bills work within the Royal Navy during the Second World War was the subject of a number

of talks given to the radio group, his work on radio direction finding was invaluable in the

defeat of the U Boat menace during the Battle of the Atlantic.

Bill was always ready to pass his knowledge of Morse on to those interested and was highly

respected in this field..."Golf Three Able Queen Mary" was a much sought after callsign to log

as having worked...Bill will be a great loss to the Radio Group, our thoughts are with his

Wife and Family.

The Radio Group Chairman's research and investigations into Radio Meteor Detection have now reached a wider audience

 http://www.southgatearc.org/news/january2011/radio_meteor_detection.htm

initial e-mail replies have brought praise from top radio astronomers who have commented on the quaility of David's work.

His tests show that Meteors can be detected entering Earths atmosphere, with little background interference and displayed cleanly to the audience.

He will shortly be presenting a lecture to the society, so that members can see the quality of the research for themselves.
